Take Your RV Out to See the Festivals of Spring


Spring is in bloom around the country so it’s time to take the cover off of your RV, dust it off, de-winterize it, and hit the road to see the most amazing festivals in the country. There are festivals for everything these days, from tulips to beer, in cities around the country.

National Cherry Blossom Festival

Load your RV with food, pack your bags, and head out on the road to Washington DC’s famous Cherry Blossom Festival. In 1912, Tokyo’s mayor gifted 3,000 cherry trees to the city of Washington DC to celebrate enduring friendship between the US and Japan. Today, bear witness to more than 3,000 cherry trees in full bloom in springtime for a festival of pinks. The Cherry Festival spans four weeks and is comprised of more than 50 cultural events and programs. There is no time to waste because cherry blossoms are in peak bloom right now. Admission: Free

Philly Loves Beer

From May 31st to June 9th, Philadelphia is all about cold, refreshing beer. Touted as America’s oldest and largest celebration of beer, the mission of the beer festival is to position Philly as the premiere destination for authentic beer experiences. Philly Loves Beer is 10 days of beer related events across Philadelphia. If you love beer, drive that RV over to “The City of Brotherly Love” for some unique beer party experiences.

Where to Stay: Philadelphia/ West Chester KOA is located alongside a river where you can canoe, kayak, fish and more. It is very highly rated with more than a thousand reviews.

San Diego Festival of the Arts

On June 8th and 9th, nearly 200 artists gather along the San Diego harbor to display their original works of arts. There is entertainment, delicious cuisine, fine wine and beer, and views views views. Stroll along Waterfront Park for a high quality showcase of art from critically acclaimed artists. Money from the festival goes to raise funds to support sports and recreation programs for San Diegans with disabilities. Admission: 1-day ticket, $12, 2-day ticket, $16. Children are free.

Kentucky Derby

Don’t forget to pack your spring pastels and fancy hats into the RV and head over to the world-famous Kentucky Derby for opening night on Saturday, April 27th. Get your bets ready in advance with the Derby Preps. Plus Que Parfait is ranked #1 this year with By My Standards on his tail. Admission: $40 and up.

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in Washington was named one of the top 9 must see flower and garden shows in the world by Condé Nast Traveller magazine. The Tulip Festival is one of the main destination events for the Pacific Northwest, held from April 1-30, celebrating millions of tulips bursting into bloom. Admission: $7 on weekdays, $10 on weekends.

Where to Stay: Pull your RV up to the Mount Vernon RV Park very near to the tulip fields and the town of Mount Vernon. There are 81 sites to hook up to.

Coachella

You are never too old to enjoy some great live music out in the desert. Get your most outrageous costume, pack it in your RV, and head out to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to enjoy acts like Childish Gambino, Kacey Musgraves, Ariana Grande, and Billie Eilish. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is held over two weekend: April 12-14 and April 19-21.

Where to Stay: Pull your RV up to the Emerald Desert RV Resort in Palm Desert and you will definitely be staying in style. The grounds are gorgeous with a huge pool, tennis courts, and more. You will pay a little more than normal to stay at this RV Park, but it’ll be worth it.
